She woke up with a scream only to realize that it was all a dream. The cold sweat continued to trickle down her face as she started to get up. Wrapping her arms to her body holding herself up afraid that if she did not she would fall back into her nightmare. The dreams became more and more vivid with each passing day she noticed.

no matter how many times I have this dream, it still freaks me out she thought to herself

The sun started to radiated rays of light through her window. There was also a thick smell of morning rain in the air, it seemed the worst of the storm had passed away.

How much longer must I tolerate these sleepless nights? Must I just forget about sleep all together?

She shook off the remaining fright that lingered inside of her. Bonding it to the bed that held the malicious dreams, waiting for her to be consumed into them once again once night returns. She reached over to her night table getting the last of what her family remained.

Her pocket watch that neither moved forward or back, frozen in time

Her pocket watch that neither moved forward or back, frozen in time

. She clutched it close to her heart allowing the cold chain to caress her hand. She knew her parents had been killed. Perhaps by fate, perhaps by chance one thing that remained the same was the feeling of loss without being able to grieve.

Why can’t I remember? Why can’t I remember you mother, father… Forgive me.

The room remained ominously silent as she got up, her feet quietly gliding on the hardwood floor. Always questions, the world seemed to revolve around questions never answers. Even if one managed to find the answer to one thing, there was still a billion more question that remained unsolved. The world is a strange thing obscured and submerged in riddles and mysteries.

The girl opened the window and allowed for the smell of morning dew to consume her. It was early she could tell by just looking outside no clock need. She doubted that anyone was awake by now. Instead she continued to stare outside to the orange hued sky. It surprisingly got her attention she had seen many sunrise but just today it just seemed different. She saw a world engulfed in darkness being revealed by the morning sun. A light taking away the hindrance of the night letting the world be exposed to anyone who is watching. Then she began to laugh, this was the first time she got so analytical about a sun rise.

Ryuu jolted out of bed only to figure out that it was Saturday. He started to sink back into bed wishing for sleep to return. He laid in bed, his blood pumping more rapidly, mind becoming less drowsy and more into focus. His body was too alert by now, sleep was not going to return

Maybe I should invest in an alarm clock he though to himself He got up, curious to know what his fellow classmates were doing on this Saturday morning. Ryuu Tsuji along with three other students are currently ranked the highest in their country and currently living in the Night Juniper Dorm.

Traditionally the students who stood out the most among their peers would be recruited in becoming part of the Elite:a special group of students made up of usually six of the most intelligent students in the whole country. Though these student have the capability of joining the Elite, they have been rejected by the prestige Council of the Elites. Unfortunately their past is their hindrance for them to join. The Council didn’t like the idea of three children having shady, mysterious pasts. Due to a twist of fate the death of Ryuu’s and Keira’s parents has been unexplainable, unforeseen, hidden in shadows and mysteries. No one seemed to have answers only more question that lead to nothing. Sayori has a bit of a different story. Her father was killed in war and her mother has been sick, too sick to take care of her own daughter. One day a man from the Elite Council, Kain Kross decided to take fate into his own hand by becoming their caretaker. Headmaster Kross is famous or being the founder of Kaien Academy and his two special group known as the Guardians and the Keepers. His school has been the talk of the town getting ranked the best in the prefecture. Families rush to enroll their children to Kaien Academy unaware of the hidden truth behind Kain Kross ideal school

Ryuu looked into the depths of his closet. Unsure of what was clean and what was not, he finally found a blue cotton shirt and a pair of dark pants Upon his arm he wore his mandatory arm band that distinguished him from all his other peers. It carried the famous insignia of the Guardians. He looked out of his window from his dorm room in the Night Juniper. Looking into the foreign world that had consumed him, Ryuu stood there watching the clouds pass by

“ The things I must endure for being a genius” he spat out.

From the clouds his eye shifted into the breathtaking garden outside the campus. Within the sea of flowers that perfumed the air laid a girl with chestnut hair siting in one of the benches. Her hands vigorously moving along her sketch pad. He continued to study her as she brought her artwork to life, putting every detail as possible until it no longer appeared as a sketch but a photograph that had been taken.

“Keira Tensai”

The memories of him and Keira started to fill him, the days when he felt absolutely empty. He was practically a walking crops until Kain Kross adopted him and met Keira

The young boy wondered aimlessly about the town, no one paid attention to the boy as he walked by. There was occasionally a few who turned as he passed, wondering how a young boy could be walking around alone, without a parent beside him. How many day has he been alone, days, months, years? He had lost count. His whole world was engulfed in darkness with no light of hope in sight, wondering around unable to do anything. When all seemed lost, fate suddenly chose a different pass for him. This time as the young boy passed by there was only one man that turned and helped the young boy.

“Are you lost?” He asked

These few but kind words had brought light to Ryuu’s world. Since then Kain Kross had taken him in and enrolled him into school Pre-Kaien Academy. It unexpectedly came all easy to him equations, logic, history he easily passed every class the Headmaster Kross put him in. That is when he decided to train Ryuu himself for his enrollment into the Guardians. Kain took him to the Night Juniper, the home of the Guardians and thus meeting Keira another excelling child. The Headmaster takes in the children although he has no idea who they were, he was like a savoir in the eyes of the children.

Ryuu quickly got out of his flashback and headed for the tearoom for breakfast. As he entered the room he was surrounded by the pungent smell of the fragrant teas and the different aromas of the muffins.

“Ry-uu Ts-uj-i”sang Sayori the newest of the Guardians. “have you come to eat breakfast? I recommend you have my special bled of tea with berries and mint

“Sure, is Keira still in the garden?” Ryuu asked as he took his seat at the table

“Yep, she has been their since sunrise. I sometime wounder if she ever gets sleep.” She joked as she poured the tea into Ryuu’s cup. “Would you mind giving her these? She is probably hungry by now but you know how she is, she won’t stop until she think it is perfect” She handed him a small pouch filled with sweet treats “Thank you” she said as she ran back into the kitchen

I don’t remember agreeing to thishe thought to himself. He sighed and headed to the garden were he would find Keira. The Campus of the night juniper was absolutely breathtaking and its garden had an array of colors to even put a rainbow to shame. She put her pen down once she heard Ryuu foot steeps on the cobble pathway.

“Ryuu” She responded. Her golden eyes refocusing on the sun light that was beating down now.

How long has she been staring at her sketchbook? He questioned. “Hey. I brought you a couple of Sayori’s cookies, she nagged me to bring them to you actually. You know she has become very enamored with you” he stated as he made himself conformable on the reaming space on the bench that Keira was sitting on

“Thanks” she clutched the pouch of treats in her hand admiring the beauty and work that Sayori must have put into them. In the back ground she could hear the bird chirping and the smell of Sayori’s baked goods filling the campus around them. Keira opened the pouch and grabed one of the many little treats and plopped it into her mouth.

She must have been so busy trying to finish her sketch she had forgotten her bodies natural needs he though as he watched her savor the burst of sugar that was contained in that one little treat, letting the sugar to soak in her body to once again replenish her energy. Ryuu realized that staring at her was probably making her self conscious and instead fixed his eyes on the flower infront of them.“Did you get any sleep?” Ryuu asked

“Depends on your definition of sleep” she replied as she gathered her drawing mediums.

“I take that as a no then. Seriously I do not undertand how you function sometimes, If you continue acting like that I am gonna tell the headmaster to enroll you into the Night classes insead.” He teased

“Very funny Ryuu, but at least I arrive to my classes on time unlike a certain someone who always sleeps in.” She then picked up her sketchbook , holding it in font of her as she examined her creation. The sky was a little bit different then when she started but she was pleased with the results. The sky was now a nice light blue unlike when she started, before it looked as if the dark blue heavens were being engulfed in a flame of fire. A contrast to the beautiful garden underneath the fire lit sky, both different yet a beautiful contrast in its own special way.

“True I should fix that shouldn’t I. Hmm… so what are you going to call it?” Ryuu asked curiously as he changed the subject.

“I think Heavens Fire suits it well, I think I am going to hang it in my room” As Keira said that she wrote on the back and riped it at the seems out of her sketchbook.

“We should start heading back, we have a lot of work that the Headmaster wants us to do” Ryuu stated a he let a yawn escape him. Keira nodded and started to gather her things placing ‘Heavens Fire’ on the bench to get her hands free. As soon as she was done packing the wind picked up, claiming her artwork for its own. She dropped everything which shocked Ryuu who was not paying attention and watched Keira run toward the other side of the campus. He quickly followed and was able to catch up to her. She was just about to jump the fence when he grabbed her arm pulling with the right amount of force in order to stop her. “Keira are you crazy that is forbidden territory, you know that the Moon dormitories is off limits”

“But I spent all morning drawing that” she whined but she knew that Ryuu had a point. Ryuu let go of her arm once he felt confident that Keira was not going to do anything drastic. He watched as the paper  flew, continuing its journey to the forbidden building that the Headmaster held so dear.

Heaven’s fire more like Heaven’s Hell
